When homeless orphan Sikandar (Amitabh Bachchan) becomes a servant to a wealthy family he falls in love with the daughter Kamna Ramnath (Rakhee). But Sikandar`s love is doomed; class differences make it impossible and Kamna`s father soon accuses Sikandar of stealing and throws him out. Sikandar grows up to be a wealthy and respected man but his love for Kamna doesn`t die and continues to cause confusion and heartache in his adult life.
