Alok Prasad the son of the powerful Babu Prasad is a highly sensitive boy involved in the study of music. Thanks to his sister-in-law Geeta`s indulgence Alok manages to attend a music college where he graduates with flying colors. On his return home however Babu Prasad insists that his son give up music and pursue law. But for Alok music is his life. He leaves his father`s house and thereafter begins his struggle. Alok is the story of the conflict between two generations and raises many issues of social relevance. And above all Alaap is the story of music.
