Sr. Inspector Sam Bharucha (Nasseruddin Shah) an honest Police Officer in the Crime Branch Mumbai Police believes in reforming the criminals instead of condemning and punishing them. In a shoot out he kills Lallya � a youngster from a good family who has resorted to the profession of a sharp shooter for easy money. Tormented by the realization of taking a human life Bharucha tries to locate Lallya�s parents to perform his last rites. Punappa Avadhe (Dilip Prabhawalkar) who owns a liquor den is an old timer from the underworld claims that he knows Lallya�s parents and will help Bharucha find them.
