A runaway from a lunatic asylum; a dark rainy night; a lonely secluded bungalow its only inhabitant a housewife whose husband is away on business; and a corpse with a habit of disappearing and re-appearing. Dilip Roy (Rajesh Khanna) is the escapee from the asylum. Rekha (Nanda) is alone at home her husband away on business when Dilip bursts into her house. At first he terrorises her then turns sympathetic and promises to leave in the morning. But this chance encounter soon turns into a nightmare not only for Rekha but also for Dilip. He is already on the run from the law for a murder he claims he never commited and now he is involved in another. And is Rekha involved? He does not know. he is not sure of anything. Everything seems to be a `coincidence` and coincidences sometimes lead to the... he doesn`t know.
