After her husband Baburam Yadav travels to Bombay for work and does not come back for three months his wife Laxmi and three children Sheila Shakti and Shankar are on the point of destitution. Their house is taken over by a moneylender and homeless Laxmi decides to travel to Bombay in search of her husband. Unfortunately she is brutally raped and killed by a truck driver Tej Bahadur with whom she was traveling along with her children. Years later a grown up Shankar and Tej who is now known as Tejaa a criminal don meet again - and this time it is Sheila that Tej would like to have his way with. Shankar has only the license plate of the truck and Tej`s cigarette lighter to identify him with.
